bh, it's been a long time since I bought stock...

...from a company that makes a PROFIT. Good grief, you can sure tell which sector I'm heavy into, can't you? <g> On that vein, WHY does it thus far seem so incredibly difficult for an internet company to make money? I've run small businesses for years, and simply cannot understand why none of these guys seem to be able to turn a profit. I'm the most perplexed with those who provide information or online-based services as opposed to hard products. At the risk of over-simplification, these companies have a big office with some computers and a tiny workforce compared to traditional businesses turning the same kind of revenues. The only reasons I can think of that they can't make money under these conditions are:

1. Tech-head management that just can't quit spending unnecessary money on the latest gadgets.

2. Management that got filthy rich from the IPO and is now more concerned with growth of their ego as opposed to growth of the company's profits.

Like I said, I know this is oversimplified, but a lot of these high flyers should be making money by now instead of losing it.
