John we may get the Street's attention sooner than we thought.

Earnings estimates are rising...

Consensus EPS Trend
--------------------

This Quarter Next Quarter This Year
(Jun 99) (Sep 99) (Dec 99)

Current 0.02 0.08 0.05
7 Days Ago 0.02 0.08 0.05
30 Days Ago -0.02 0.03 -0.07
60 Days Ago -0.06 -0.03 -0.04
90 Days Ago -0.06 -0.03 -0.04

If there's anything that I like to see, it's multiple upward revisions within the same quarter.

Re Strip at INTC: With Andy Grove, I'd have guessed that the first opportunity wouldn't happen before 300mm. With Craig Barrett, there just might be a chance of getting in with the next major process change - say Cu or 0.13µ. I have no way of judging the probability of this happening. but I sure would like to hear from someone with knowledge of INTC's current equipment procurement processes.

Best,

Ian.

John,

Outstanding call back on Jun 12th. Did you cheat? Call the company or something? :-)

Ian.

but frankly strip and CVD are much better positioned at this point to put those numbers to the bottom line. The really big surprise, IMHO, is how well the Aspen III CVD will do as 300mm comes in place. Also, I am now thinking that MTSN will grab more market share than I thought in strip & clean with the 300mm transition.
