Lather, I don't think "The Written Word" is a pretentious title at all, and I think it is neat.

So, for that matter, is "Our Language in Cyberspace" (a pruned-down version of your favorite), although it would be a more appropriate title for a thread devoted to explaining internet gobbledygook. (And I wish someone would found such a thread; when I go to techie stock forums here, I usually don't understand what anyone is talking about.)

How about these?

Gramma Joan's Grammar Lab (too egotistical)
Garrulous Grinds & Geeks on Grammar (Is the term "grinds" passe'?)
etc.
etc.

There have been so many good suggestions. No doubt I should have thought more before devising the title for this thread in the first place, but to be honest with you, I rather doubted there would be any interest in the subject at all. Starting it was, quite simply, a Cry of Pain, a Howl in the Dark, a Statement of Protest, if you will.

At the moment, I tend to go along with those who advocate a very limited change in the present title -- since that is what I wanted in the first place. (See how democratic I am? <g>)

What DOES need heavy revision is the thread header -- the intro. Perhaps some of the proposed titles, or at least the concepts underlying them, can be incorporated in the new intro. Actually, no "perhaps" about it; they should be.
