No Dan I do not believe Jesus as portrayed in the bible ever lived. No Dan I do not think the bible is God inspired. I believe the Romans pilfered wisdom of old and rewrote it to suit their needs for control of slaves and conquered lands. I know there is a Power that is the major part of me that gives me life and consciouness. This Power is what I define as God. I am one with this Power therefore I am one with the only God I know. Though my consciousness has and will pass between bodies that Power is always the same. It may return as John or Bill or Mary but it is still "ME."

Now some call this Power the subconscious mind but it is more like a Super conscious mind or as I define it,"The mind of Christ." Doesn't this clarify Paul's message when he tells us we will have the mind of Christ?

The sub-conscious directs the conscious unless over-ruled by the Super conscious but the sub-conscience is formed mostly by habit and belief where Super Is full consciousness of God. That is why faith is so senseless unless confirmed by the Super.

After the Power reveals itself to you like it did to me your faith flies out the window. At least mine did. So did Saul of Tarsus whose words have been edited so you believe they are his. They are not for
Paul had no use for Peter and Jesus because he knew better by the indwelling Christ who he met on the road to Damascus.

The old testament you rely on so heavy was originally written as myth or allegory. Now you Christians have done a good job of changing the meaning of myth. It is now ridiculed as a belief of ignorant people when in fact it was allegorical drama to get the message across to the uninitiated. Just as they historicized the drama explaining Christ as Jesus a human so they historicized the allegories as fact.

My big problem with Christianity is that it takes the indwelling Christ beyond belief to be placed in an unreachable position.
The second coming of Christ will be in Spirit and has already come to millions. It starts with tradition brainwashing the childs subconscious to form the habit of thinking he is a sinner and fear of Hell and the Devil. That is morally wrong and evil IMHO.
