I tried your DOS thing -- no success. There was a .swp file in C:\Windows which I got rid of in addition to the one on G:

When I chose "disable virtual memory", it kept that when I went back to check, unlike the way it reverted back to "Let Windows..." when I chose G: drive.

I did a full-computer search for .swp files and they are just where they should be (I still have my old win98 install on my other disk). The old install's virtual memory is working correctly.

The new install is buggy in other ways too. I get frequent hourglasses when working with driver installs. Thing just doesn't feel right. Think it's DI.

Thanks for the DOS adventure <g>. I like the way DOS lets you alphabetize a file and print the contents to a text file.

I did some testing of file transfer speeds with DOS vs Windows and found the opposite of what you say. DOS takes 3 times as long to move a folder. I forget which app I used -- xcopy or xcopy32 I think. What am I doing wrong?
