First I want to thank you for you apologies....I only saw them today. I had thought your use of " torjerk" was out of character but at times there can be such antagonism on this thread, I was unclear as to the nature of your reaction to my post. I have located two articles in thestreet.com that speak to what I was talking about but do not specifically talk about info appliances and their potential impact on pc's. Both are written by m. burstiner and i think are worth reading: "Wary Investors Question Intel's Newest Farm Team" (6/3/99) and "Is M. Edelstone Smarter Than the Average Intel Bear" (6/9/99). I also have a link to another site:

techstocks.com

I will continue to look for the article re the ias......with the markets so unpredictable, i tend to look at a number sources for market views and trends. I still think i saw it in thestreet.com but i am ready to admit that i may be wrong and will look to other sources.

Of course the reason for all this is to point out:

1) that at least parts of the intel house are made of glass; that economies, businesses, stock prices et.al do not remain static and that should the 'worm turn" in the future, the attacks by intel longs on amd may begin to look pretty stupid. In any case what is the point to it?

and 2) that this was mentioned, i think, by someone on the amd thread that the fighting that occurs on this thread actually parallels the 'economic war' being waged between amd and intc which is not unlike the one being waged between boeing and airbus. That war has gone on for several years and has resulted in significant discounting of their prices which, in turn, has seriously impacted ba's and i suspect airbus's profits (they are private) and has depressed ba's stock price. In other words the poster was saying that intc and amd would be better off calling a truce and coming to a competitive understanding (that does not violate antitrust laws) than to discount the hell out of their profits. Not likely to happen but nonetheless i think a very smart suggestion......don't you agree?

Thanks again for explaining the error in your post.

ted

PS The article that i was linking was on another thread and i thought it would be like other links and come 'alive' when i posted..... apparently not. Sorry.
