RE: <Looks like .18m 600Mhz Coppermine PIIIs could be ready by August if need be. As for the AMDotes, I'd love to see the Cost/Performance of these chips with the .25m K7 600 chips(if there are any around in August, that is <gg>)>

This article either says or implies that Coppermine will work with the 440BX chip set with PC100 sdrams. If so, and it sounds likely, then this combination may be Intel's best weapon against K7. Coppermine+440BX+PC100 sounds better to me than Coppermine+Camino+600MHzRambus when you think of Cost/Performance. If box makers have this option they will take it and Intel will be looking for places to stick Camino.

Of course, what the market should have is Coppermine+Camino'+PC133 where Camino' is Camino with optimized support for PC133.

>>- Despite our view that the September launch of Rambus-based PCs remains on
schedule, we believe that the recent collapse in synchronous DRAM prices will
likely promote lower Rambus DRAM prices and potentially lead to a slower
transition to the new memory architecture in the first half of next year.

does this make any sense?

no!. lower direct rdram prices will increase demand! except, i may wait for 733 piii/800 drdram.

Joey - RE: That link

This is in Edelstone's report:

"Samsung has already commenced volume production of Rambus DRAMs for the September launch, and we believe that Hyundai, NEC, Siemens, and Toshiba will be qualified by the end of the third quarter. Furthermore, we believe that Micron Technology will be in production by the fourth quarter."

Intel invested $100,000,000 in Samsung and $500,000,000 in Micron.

Intel's pretty smart, eh?
