It is getting interesting!
In Canada, stock exchange officials are acknowledging that a single North American securities trading system is emerging - one that will compete head-to head with similar networks in Europe and possibly Asia. Some view the role of the Canadian exchanges will be to form a sub-set of this continental market system. This continental market system will be driven by the U.S. stock exchanges and officials recognize that they must move quickly to merge into this unified network. Addressing the subject last week, John Carson, senior
vice-president of the Toronto Stock Exchange suggested that if Canadian stock exchanges don't upgrade, cuts costs and provide easy access to Canadian public markets, they will not survive.
