Yes Japan is top dog in pearls but I think that India has some really good unexplored possibilities in this area. In North America people love pearls... but in India people love gold and stuff but don't really care much for pearls. So I thought maybe if the quality of pearls from India is at least comparable to the quality we are used to here, it would represent a great opportunity to start a new business. Since Indians don't really care for pearls, the pearls would be dirt cheap. It costs a bit of money to buy a really good pearl necklace for example. If we can produce the same quality that North Americans are used to but at a much lower cost, then I think it would be a great business venture. I'm told that India is the world's largest producer of pearls. Japan may be top dog for pearls but in terms of commercial quality pearls... India may have an almost completely unexplored area that they can capitalize on because of their reduced cost basis. Thanks for the links, I'm very excited about checking them out. Lola:)

That Magnatrai site is perfect... that's exactly what I was looking for. They have some good ready made designs already. I thought I would have to come up with all new designs because they're based out of India. Cool. I need to do a lot of work to set it up.... in 6 months expect to see me in the pearl business as well. Right now I own 2 electronics companies. I have such an active imagination... I come up with so many business ideas... workable business ideas. But there's only one of me so it gets pretty exhausting. My husband is not the entrepreneurial type so I start the business and when it's running, I leave him to take care of things and move on to the next business idea.
