Excerpts from an article I posted during an earlier discussion of the greatness and
goodness of God, of His worthiness, if He is, indeed, omnipotent, of the worship He is
reported to demand on pain of eternal torture:

E - the Christian conception of God is only one conception.

A limited but perhaps marginally useful analogy: you have probably hear the story of the six blind men who were trying to understand what an elephant was. One felt his tail and said it was a snake. Another felt his leg and said it was the trunk of a tree. Another felt the skin and said it was a dried up river bed. Etc.

We see/experience only a tiny fraction of what God is. Christianity is one attempt to fashion a coherent whole out of the little we know. I suspect that when God is eventually revealed to us we will find that the Christians had something on the order of the left toenail. Perhaps true as far as it went, but impossible to build a picture of the whole from.

Your anger at God is really your anger at the Christian conception of God.
