You might want to look at a DIVx compatible machine. DIVx is a "rentable" DVD equivalent to a VHS tape rented at Blockbuster except you have more time flexibility. You rent them over the internet, and if you like them, you can buy them. divx.com Like Lee said DVD is great picture and sound!

Dennis-- Philips makes an excellent DVD player as does SONY. I watch DVDs on a 60 inch big screen. Once you start watching movies in DVD, you will never want to go back. jmho RB
