You might want to look at a DIVx compatible machine. DIVx is a "rentable" DVD equivalent to a VHS tape rented at Blockbuster except you have more time flexibility. You rent them over the internet, and if you like them, you can buy them.

Dennis-- Philips makes an excellent DVD player as does SONY. I watch DVDs on a 60 inch big screen. Once you start watching movies in DVD, you will never want to go back. jmho RB
