What is it with this royalist impulse in the GOP? Why can't we pick someone interesting, someone with the courage of his convictions? Like Steve Forbes, or Dan Quayle, or even Alan Keyes? Why do we always have to pick the dullest, most middle-of-the-road milktoast, so we can lose to the more exciting Democrat? That's why we lost the last two presidential elections and why, in all likelihood (as sick as it makes me to think about it) we'll probably blow 2000.
