You have got to be kidding. No refinery would be held hostage to potential computer glitches. The physical processes would continue, even if PLCs and central monitoring went down. Don't forget that many of these refineries were operating before computers became common. - JMO

I spent part of last week in a South American country. Based on this trip I know that at least one national oil company is taking Year 2000 very seriously. I do not know about Venezuela but I can check tomorrow. I have friends who do work there.
