Sorry, but I simply do not accept those contentions without evidence.

As to observation, most of this is done with instruments that leave a permanent record. Things like spectrophotometers are hooked up to strip recorders. Telescopes have attached photorecording devices etc. X-ray diffraction is measured on photographic plates. We are not talking about subjective measurements. A scientist would not describe phenomena in terms of subjective colors -- he would use a spectral analyzer. He would not subjectively measure weight by hand -- he would use a balance. He would not measure temperature by touch -- he would use a calibrated thermometer.

Now if you are talking about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, that is another matter altogether. The reason is that when measuring very minute, subatomic particles the amount of energy input into the system to get a measurement perturbs the system. That's why you cannot simultaneously measure an electron's position and energy level simultaneously. But that has nothing to do with measurements at the atomic or molecular level, where the proportional amount of energy is minuscule. And it certainly has nothing to do with the identity or sex of the investigator.

I was specifically talking about observations, not interpretations. They are quite different. I was talking also talking about identical experiments. And I certainly would not use Newsweek as a source.

If what you say is true, we'd better can the whole thing and start worshipping magic spirits. Forget about flying on a plane, or talking on the phone. And certainly don't take any drugs.

TTFN,
CTC
