Loved the quote: "We've been through some things together, with trunks of memories still to come. We found things to do in stormy weather, (Ancor) [boy, did we ever--all those calculations, all that information about switches]. Long may you run." N. Young

Lest we give Westwoodguy too much credit for investment expertise far exceeding that of those long-time posters on this board consider this from his Yahoo post #550l on 6/4/99: "As for returns, I've gone from 20K to 347K in eight months in mid-98 and back again to 0K after the October rebound (was short in the market, naturally). Up 120K on the current account since Feb. of this year."

Sounds as though his investment results were not far from ours--in October. But the difference today is probably very interesting. I am delighted to have him post here and on Yahoo. Other perspectives are always helpful, and his conversion from a short to a long was rather rapid--must be some reason for this other than being blinded on the road to Damascus.

But to follow someone blindly is to be a bit of a lemming. We have all learned hard lessons, and I am sure we will be able to apply them in the future. It is so true: we are often ruled by either fear or greed in our investment decisions. I do hope we have seen most of the fear we will see in this investment and that our greed for short-term profits will not outweigh our wisdom--such as it is--lololol. For those with trading expertise, this could be a profitable journey, but that is not to say that it will not be also profitable for those who just hold and hold and hold.
