It would certainly impact MP server benchmarks. The impact on desktop numbers would be dependent more on the latency, which may or may not be changed by the slower L2. That would depend on certain implementation details which I am not privy to.

Gary,

The K7 is much less vulnerable to l2 cache timing than say the PII/PIII because it's L1 cache is 4x the size of the current P6 crop. Hell the l1 cache on the K7 is as big as the L2 on the celeron ;)
