Glenn,
Perhaps he's short via puts vs. shorting the common? I guess his hedge is going to $0 on each contract instead of negative with the common. Best of luck to him - not!

Glenn, PUTS. Yes, technically it occurs in a margin account, since all option activity must, but there is no way to lose more than your initial investment.

I only have common short shares in a few small positions, for companies that are too pathetic to have options traded for them.
