I also heard a rumor that MSFT was looking at Red Hat, which is not surprising, but also because of their chip. How would this affect MUCP or would it at all? Thinking cable here, at this point.

3D,

I have heard the MSFT rumours as well. But I understand that they were pretty much locked into the Phillips platform and passed on MSU's ISPv1.

What I did hear back in April was the MSU had sent product samples of ISPv2 (ethernet) to some 28 different potential customers for beta-testing. The opinion at that time was that just a couple of these clients adapting MSU's platform could result in achieving a large proportion of the expected 1.4 million box production target.

Since beta-testing is usually among the last stages before actually signing a purchase agreement, I'm fairly convinced that at least a couple of these companies are seriously interested in MSU's box and will ultimately sign on the dotted line.

Regards,

Ron
