I totally agree with this and everything else you had to say. I think Ebay will survive and Amzn will eventually (six months) scale back to a specialized bookis and music auction site to save face. However, even as a regular user, can you imagine a scenario in which Ebay's volume and pricing increase to the point where its profits justify its market capitalization??

I was able to find my items and see the status of the bids and bid history. But of course the My Ebay feature is really convenient. But also let me point out another tell-tale sign that this is not a professional organization. The color coding of current high bidder.

When I was implementing a user interface for a product, we hired a professional team to design the appearance. They quickly pointed out that there are many people with various degrees of color blindness. I am just amazed that eBay uses the distinction between green and red as the only way to convey specific information.

Of course as a new eBay user, I may be showing my own ignorance rather than theirs.
