All Bre-X displayed is that the speculative fervor in the gold markets were out of control. You may have a case in saying that CBs decided at that point to demonetize gold in order to prevent such speculation. But it doesn't matter why they sell.. The fact is that they are falling over one another to offload their physical gold in advance of their counterparts. That is providing any shorts the opportunity to cover their positions at a VERY profitable gain, hopefully deleveraging themselves. The key is to prevent even more speculation with gold market carry trades. Regards, Ron
