IDT's Enhanced RISController CPUs Offer
33 Percent Performance Upgrade At
Unprecedented Price

Pin-Compatible RC4640/50 Microprocessors Provide Designers Flexible
Upgrade Path for High-Performance Systems

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 1999-- IDT (Nasdaq: IDTI - news), a leading
manufacturer of RISC microprocessors, today introduced enhanced versions of its RC4640(TM) and
RC4650(TM) embedded microprocessors. Allowing designers to upgrade their systems without costly
redesign, the enhanced RC4640/50 RISController(TM) microprocessors offer performance increases of
33 percent over previous versions, reaching 267-MHz speeds, 350-Dhrystone MIPS and 133 million
multiply/accumulate (MAC) operations per second. The improved price/performance, high bus speeds
and increased DSP capabilities of IDT's RC4640/50 microprocessors make them especially attractive
for designers of digital consumer products such as set-top boxes and Internet-capable TVs; and makers
of networking and data communications solutions such as high-end switches, routers and ADSL/VDSL
modems.

''Our customers need the ability to select the most appropriate processor for a variety of
price/performance requirements, without the time and expense of redesigning their system for each new
application. IDT's RISController family provides the required breadth of speed and performance along
with the upgradability designers require,'' said Phil Bourekas, director of marketing for IDT's
microprocessor division. ''With today's announcement, we are further extending the flexibility of our
64-bit solutions. Indeed, the enhanced versions of the RC4640/50 are ideal for both cost-sensitive
consumer markets and networking markets where high performance is a must.''

The RC4640 combines a true internal 64-bit execution core with a 32-bit bus interface. The RC4650
utilizes a 64-bit execution core combined with a 64-bit bus interface. Designed to provide high
throughput for bandwidth-hungry networking and multimedia applications, the RC4640 and RC4650
support more than 500- and 1,000-MBytes per second external throughput, respectively. Both embedded
microprocessors are also pin-compatible with IDT's RC64474(TM) and RC64475(TM) microprocessors,
providing an upgrade path for system designers to higher capability and performance. Prior to the
current enhancements, the RC4640/50 were available at 200-MHz speeds, 260-Dhrystone MIPS
performance and 100 million MAC operations per second.

World-Class RISController Series of Embedded Products

Offering a wide range of software-compatible, price/performance choices, IDT has optimized its
high-performance microprocessors and complementary system controllers for use in an assortment of
embedded communications applications, including internetworking, multimedia, datacom and telecom
products. IDT's commitment to delivering system level solutions, comprehensive tools support and
world-class microprocessors, based on the MIPS instruction-set, have made the RISController series the
standard for a number of industry-leading companies in the digital consumer and communications
markets.

Pricing and Availability

Enhanced versions of both the RC4640 and RC4650 are available now. The 267-MHz, 3.3-volt RC4640
microprocessor is available in a 128-pin plastic quad flat package (PQFP) at $29 each in 10,000-piece
quantities. The 267-MHz, 3.3-volt RC4650 microprocessor is available in a 208-pin metal quad
(MQUAD) package at $39 each in 10,000-piece quantities.
