you will nevertheless choose to worship a deity who you believe responsible for instituting such an arrangement. Ah, there you have me wrong. I have never said God is responsible, or not responsible, for instituting such an arrangement. What is God's role in the world? I don't know. It's not a relevant question for me. Does God make every decision about the world? I don't know, and I'm not particularly interested in the question. Does God know that the wells were poisoned but make a deliberate decision to let mankind work out its own problems its own way (as I allowed, for example, my son to play football because it was important to him even though I knew there was a chance it could lead to paralysis or death)? I don't know, and I'm not particularly interested in the question. I am simply uninterested in judging God.
