How is it that you don't quote the Koran -- also God's written word? How about the book of Mormon? How about any number of other books purporting to be the word of God? How do you choose the authentic word of God?

And if the Bible is the word of God how is it that it is self-contradictory? Does the God of the Bible suffer from memory lapses? Almighty Alzheimer?

Maybe, if you would expend just a little bit of thought, it might occur to you that these books represent man's concept of God.

There was an article in today's NY Times about an Irishman who was trying to save a hawthorn tree from the bulldozers. He claimed that the tree was a meeting place for fairies, and if the tree were destroyed the fairies would place a curse on the highway below. True believers are such fun!
