Barb, how soon can you short after the IPO at WH? Is that the 3 day rule you mentioned? I should call on Mon. to find out for sure.

I got a margin call on my account a couple weeks ago when a daytrade on a recent(about 3 wks old) IPO turned into an overnight hold due to webbroker crashing in the last 10 minutes of the day, and I couldn't place my sell order. I should've had PLENTY of margin room if it were marginable, but the only explantation I could come up with was that is wasn't marginable yet. Like I said, I don't know for sure, as I don't daytrade IPOs very often, and have never asked them before. I've heard other brokerages have a 30 day rule on margining IPOS.

A lot of money has been made by shorters of IPOs recently.
