Yes, I think he does. I don't remember much detail, and I dare say there are other, newer books on the subject. It wasn't newly published when I read it, and that was quite a while ago.

I think I remember from this book a description of tribal life where the family huts were in close proximity, and how no one made eye contact or acknowledged the existence of their neighbors in the morning until everybody'd had a chance to get their act together.
