PK, I grew up in a house that was built in the 1950s. My father paid $29,500 for it in 1963. It had ~2500 square feet. I have no idea how many paychecks that was for him. He and my mother did manage to raise 5 children on one salary, and sent 4 through college. He was a career Navy officer, so we were by no means wealthy.

Dear Papaya King: You are eating too much TOAST. haha. As to quality, glad you didnt compare US automobiles. Quality today IMHO is SUPERB compared to 1960's. Also, today most things are electronic compared to mechanical in that day. I suppose that mechanical does tend to last longer but electronic often performs better. JDN
