bob, I stand corrected:

"Lucent and Texas Instruments are developing a chip for a player
that will be built by e.Digital and use that company's
MicroOS file management system."

This is the first time I have seen it written like this. Up until this, I have always thought of TI as merely a supplier of a very important component called the DSP.

I had the impression that the DSP was already finished and was on order and manufactured by TI. biz.yahoo.com

Now, this would explain why TI is on the EDIG web site. But, I am surprised that they claim EDIG is going to build the chip instead of TI. Is this a different chip?

Maybe what that reporter meant to say was that Lucent and TI have come up with a concept chip and EDIG is going to design it. Or maybe EDIG is modifying TI's DSP to work with MicroOS.
