Michelle, you're too young to remember, but 20 years ago milk and bread were
delivered to people's doorsteps. The logistics were pretty simple, everyone ordered
pretty much the same thing each week. However, as soon as supermarkets started opening
the home delivery business collapsed. You see, it is always cheaper to have the customer
perform the "last mile" of fufilment. Just ask Glenn about this.

KIS,

I recall those days well. The glass milk bottles with a tin peel off lid. The milk was pasturized but not homoginized (sp). The milkman (there were no women in the business at that time) would also have butter, cheese, eggs, etc. and one could choose something they typically did not get right on the spot if there was supply on the truck. Otherwise it came two days later. My recollection was delivery was every two days. Cooling was done with large ice blocks.

You are correct! When the consumer could do the fulfillment, the entire deliver system collapsed and it happened quickly. Are we doing a 180 thirty five years later? You said twenty but I believe it to be longer. I doubt that will work mainstream.

I keep trying to clear up an issue. I am long AMZN because in the fall I believe it will go up. My long term outlook on the firm has not changed. Looking at current market conditions, I believe I went long a few months too soon. I can remedy that tomorrow if need be. That goes for AOl too.
