<KZNerd - re: Wait! Stop the presses! Are you saying that 800 MHz was achieved by cooling? That's bogus! I thought that you were saying that 600 MHz yield is so good that some actually made 800 MHz legally. This cooling stuff is flim-flam even at 900 MHz.>

No. Steve was saying that 1 GHz Kryotech was one of the room temperature 800 MHz K7s.

Kznerd,

Re:" Wait! Stop the presses! Are you saying that 800 MHz was achieved by cooling? That's bogus! I thought that you were saying that 600 MHz yield is so good that some actually made 800 MHz legally. This cooling stuff is flim-flam even at 900 MHz."

The cooling is not flim flam - and you would understand this if you were technical.

The cooling speeds up by 30% so the parts that ran at 1Ghz cooled would have been 800Mhz parts.

Kryotech has promised 1Ghz systems by Q4.

These will be 800Mhz parts cooled to 1Ghz.

Volumes will be low but the inescapable fact is that AMD is yielding some parts at 800Mhz-and remember they haven't run much product.

With some fine tuning they can definately hit the 700Mhz speed grades with 0.25 micron.

With 0.18 micron a 1Ghz part is on the horizon.

If AMD has 0.18/Cu this year they will be at 1Ghz.

The good news is the die will be small and even if yields are awfull the chips will enjoy a unit price where profit margins will be healthy.

Face it Intel can't hit 1Ghz with its 0.18 process and AMD will get there much sooner.

Regards,

Kash

Get with the program - you are supposed to follow all the AMDiehards and work yourself up into a lather by Ping-Ponging to each other even more incredible K7 ACHIEVEMENTS !

Heck - by the end of today, you should have every body believing that AMD will roll out 2 GHz K7's by Christmas !

KZNerd,

No.. the 1Ghz Kryotech was an 800Mhz natural part.

Steve
