To Uncle Frank: While both you and Mike see no harm in Geoff Moore's comments since this provides an opportunity to revalidate TGG concepts and find them strong, I am bothered by two side effects.

The first is that the attacks on the Q carefully orchestrated by Ericsson and carried out by Dow Jones et al worked and carry over even now since Geoff Moore seems to have relied on those reports for his "facts". The power of propaganda, hype over the actual real situation, is demonstrated again. This is particularly discouraging to me since Geoff Moore should be too smart and certainly too skeptical to be taken in. But he clearly was.

The second is that yes a book which was the joint effort of 3 authors stands on its own regardless of the performance later of one of its authors - the primary writer or "puller together of ideas" as I understand his role. But to me there is a little sadness in "the King has no clothes" effect, if I may call it that. Just as the reality suffered from Ericsson's calculated campaign against CDMA and the Q, and without question delayed the roll out of a superior technology, it seems to me to do no good for TGG for one of the authors to prove he is not as well informed, analytical and thoughtful as might be assumed. Don't see how this can do anything but hurt acceptance of TGG as a useful analytical tool in technology widely defined.

Of course both the Q and TGG will come though this OK. It is just a bump in the road. And perhaps both will be strengthened. But I, for one, am saddened by it though. Guess I just wish better of people.

Chaz too
