Steven I took no offence but here is the deal, like in the U.S abortion is legal in India if I am not mistaken,it is not also as prevalent as you or anyone might think,TV show notwithstanding. If some idiots abort a baby because it is female doesn't make it a national trend.I have never heard of this happening any of the southern states particularly mine.To prove a point, Hey I have more nieces than nephews and they are all in India and quite happy and healthy as can be see,we are not in the business of killing babies is all I am saying. Lastly, certainly it is not a national trend.

I have to agree with you that one should be able to openly discuss a society's problems without fear of offending someone or being called a racist.

The real problems that exist for India are not how foreigners view India. The real problems are the murdering of female fetuses (did I spell that right?), the murdering of female babies and the sexual and physical abuse of children. These are very real problems.

I don't think that a person should have to be of a certain color or background in order for us to have an intelligent discussion of the problems that exist in Indian society. I do not feel that your views are based on ignorance... in fact I confirm your views based on my personal experiences. I am not offended if a white person asks me such questions. I'm glad they care enough to ask at all.

I understand Mohan's reaction to this however. As a matter of fact I get the same reaction from any Indian I discuss this topic with. It isn't until I give graphic details of my own experiences that they are even willing to accept that such things happen at all.

Many Indians believe that for sexual abuse of children to exist means that there is no God. That isn't true. It's a myth that keeps them from facing reality. The reality is God does exist but evil also exists. It is the evil we must fight and we can't do that if we have our eyes closed.

Sorry Mohan no offence intended. I just feel very strongly about this. Your reaction is exactly the type of thing that kept me from confronting my family for so many years. The fact that they just will not accept the truth.
