That's not what that press release said. They said their expectation is the deal will close the Friday. They didn't indicate any attempt to sweeten their offer.

They are not showing their cards, they're just showing what they've already been dealt.

The market's saying the same thing to QWST as it did to GLBX. As a shareholder, I don't like losing 25% of my stock value. The market's already voting this and may make it impossible to do the deal without collars, and the stock price being so low.

There are more battles in a war, and other partners who will make the value of QWST move up vs down.

If you leave this stock now, you're going to sell cheap, and then rebuy it after it rebounds (and it will, cause this deal's going south real fast.....). It's a coiled spring now, and it's down over 10 points.

Qwest's offer is Win - Win for them.

If they get US West and Frontier, they solve the last mile problem in a significant area, gain a substantial customer base, and make themselves far less likely to be taken over, especially by another Baby Bell. I doubt if the FCC will allow 2 Baby Bells and a Long Distance Company to merge.

If Global Crossing raises it's bid, we improve out competitive position.

This is Win - Win, even if it doesn't fly, Qwest can be seen as defending it's position of remaining independent. When the dust settles again, Qwest will be setting new highs.

Gary

That wasn't much of a statement from GLBX. I'm just catching up, so maybe there's more to follow.............?
