Summer stock market doldrums: the go-go crowd got up and went. As summer approaches, the lure of things other than a computer screen is too much and speculators are clearing out their portfolios of inflated stocks. Of course, it's more complex than that - but I think that Internet investing as new kind of "computer game" is a factor - and computer gaming trails off in the summer.

"School's out for summer . . ."

I started thinking about what will happen in a couple weeks as funds get close to closing out the quarter. In favorable times for the nets "window dressing" has helped to lift the stocks higher as many fund managers thought they needed to show a few of these high flyers in their portfolios. But now the reverse might happen - they may want to dump the net darlings or limit the weighting so it doesn't look like they goofed - a "window undressing" that could help propel the Internuts down further. I think that Wall Street professional selling before and during summer is also a factor - the pros taking off for vacation want to lighten up on the high beta stocks so they can not be worried by their gyrations. Just theories - that seem to play out repeatedly.

>>Where is everyone? Shell shock?<<

An atmosphere of depression has settled over the resident bulls, for obvious reasons. However, I will take no joy in their losing this battle. I do not think the war is over. Ebay's website is still not working so no bounce is possible there. But tomorrow is another day. For better or worse I closed all my net positions this morning in anticipation of a bounce. That could be the end of the line for Amzn & Ebay. I deeply regret having closed my Amzn short on Friday
