Ten,

Hence there should be no argument behind the decision for Timna to support DRDRAM.

Let's take the argument a little further. Using the same logic, we should start seeing Caminos with DRDRAM really soon.

Strong PC shipments expected in 2Q99. ML is comfortable w/ $0.55 Q2 EPS
Recently released forecasts from IDC indicate that the
number of PCs shipped in Q2 should grow by 21% YoY.
The market research firm also expects continued strength
in Japan and Asia Pacific.
ML Comment: Strong PC unit growth is good news for the
semiconductor industry – we estimate that PCs and PC
peripherals account for about 40% of the total end market
for semiconductors. We continue to believe that the PC
market in 1999 will be characterized by generous volume
growth and weak pricing, especially in the desktop market.
As far as Intel is concerned, we expect to see the company
concentrating on boosting revenues in its server and
workstation microprocessor business, where pricing
remains relatively solid. Intel will also focus on reducing
cost in its Celeron product lineup, which comprises an
increasing percentage of the total desktop business for the
company. We believe that Intel is having more success
cutting costs on Celeron than is common believed, which is
a major supporting factor for our $0.55 Q2 earnings
estimate.
