My connections are flying today, maybe it's your ISP.

John,

No the system only sucks if you try to use it. Do like the others here just sit and stare at the home page, when that gets boring go read the glowing Gomez reports.

Happy Trading

Stan

John: How much memory does your system have?

If you are only at 32 megs of RAM that may be your problem, even 64 sometimes does not cut it. Better to bump it up to 128.

Have you considered Fidelity? No Level 2 but I have not had those problems you described. Two times in six months the system was slow. I have called hundreds of times and got system hold function only four times, they usually pick up on two rings. Executions are usually fast, 30 seconds to a minute. For Level 2 try PC quote. Yea, it would be a couple of hundred bucks a month extra but it is reliable. I tried DTNIQ for Level 2 and found it very unreliable, freezing many times, cutting me off the system etc. E-Signal and TRAC also look good , TRACK DATA has online trading too.

Fidelity has at least eight servers. I have bookmarked several of them. If for some reason I log on and it seems slow I just go to the next one.

Before you input your ID look at the address at the top in the window. Does it give a server #? I do not have ETRADE so, I can't see. It's possible you can bookmark a lot of entry points into different ETRADE servers and when it appears slow just move to the next one. A good time to find out would be now, when the market is closed.
