to the extent cmgi is working startups, earnings are irrelevant to the fundamentals of the company right now. in a couple years, perhpas, when the business model is more mature, they will be much more relevant. otoh, earnings are very relevant to the market's perception. but even there, cmgi, but for one time events, would have met the analysts' expectations. if cmgi had exceeded expectations by using one time events, the market would have punished it. cmgi missed the analysts because of one time events and still gets punished. so i guess the question really is whether the selloff is attributable to a change in the fundamentals of the company or a general loss of confidence in the sector. if the latter, the confidence will return; if the former, bail out now.

The mid to late rally will occur with the tech stocks leading the way as the G knows alot of $$$$$$ was made 1 quarter and they need the capital gains come April 15,2000 in order to rebuild Koskovo and all the other lofty goals they have!! Asia is a house of cards and a real flight to US safety will occur this summer /fall IMO plus the toilet paper sector will rotate back as I am sure u all realize that the MMs and fed r handling/manipulating the world markets and we just ride the waves so we may as well just chill and wait as the weak hands sell and the margins r called!!!!!! The internets r the revolution and well worth the risks so good luck to all!!!

I put the reasons for my beliefs in my posts, why don't you post WHY you think earnings are relevant and HOW CMGI should produce income if not by selling stock.

Well, if one works for a salary then you know from week to week, month to month what your income is. If you work in sales with a base and a certain percent contingent then a snapshot of worker A and B may not be the best reflection of actual earnings or potential of future earnings.

For CMGI it depends on when they take eprises public and so forth. If you use the wrong metric you will get the wrong answer. Value and opportunity for investors exists in knowing the difference.

This is why CMGI is my only core long term Inet holding.
