Yes and no, respectively. It hangs right before the little white dots start appearing on the blue startup screen.

Appreciate the help spots (and your input too, Wily.) I don't want to waste much more time with it, so I'll probably just redo NT unless a reasonably quick solution prevents itself.

I really should have been more careful. I've never seen or heard of a problem like this one--I'll be ready next time. :)
