** OT ** Wally: I worked in a 7-11 when I was being subjected to child labor laws in an earlier life <g>. Boy, I could tell you some stories. My only issue concerning this new inventory control system is with shoplifted items. The clerk does not get to scan the shoplifted item before it leaves the store and, so, the most popular items <GG> are not stocked on the shelves. I ran eight gas pumps; gave cancer sticks to the addicts; provided food stamp change from penny candy buyers to those who wanted to buy liquor with the proceeds down the street; made coffee, popcorn and hot dogs and served slush puppies -- all by myself during rush hour because the owner was too cheap to have two clerks run the store. Yeah, like I had time and the inclination to stop the shoplifters on that side of town. A few years after I left for the next rung of my career ladder, the store went out of business. An inventory control system would not have saved it.
