Basically true. The body chipper came from Rockford, Illinois. The people in Brainard do talk like that. If you like the Coen boys, The Hudsucker Proxy was a good one.

One of the creepier aspects of the movie is the fact that at the beginning of the movie a scroll says it's a true story when in fact it's totally fictional from start to finish ( which they readily admit ).
