It's a dumb shrink.

Especially dumb, IMHO, because Intel hasn't managed to gain any incremental speed grade boost from going through the trouble.

It is an "optical" shrink of the 0.25 micron Dixon - so it has just 5 metal layers and NO SSE instructions.

It does have the on-chip 256K L2 cache.
