Microsoft said Tuesday it acquired wireless data company OmniBrowse Inc., adding a component in the launch of a Web service that will deliver news and information to cell phones, e-mail accounts and pagers. Users can sign up to receive services at mobile.msn.com. The MSN Mobile service includes customized sports and weather reports. "We believe MSN Mobile will do for the Internet what the cellular phone did for the telephone," said Yusuf Mehdi, director of the company's consumer and commerce group. Eventually, he said, the service will include e-mail, address books, stock quotes and calendars -- all on cell phones and pagers. OmniBrowse's suite of wireless content delivery services has been incorporated into MSN Mobile.
