BGR -- the intention of the intervention was to offset the flood of cash going into Japan partly from investors and partly to meet the needs for government spending -- which is ballooning beyond comprehension. The bon fire has started. They need to fuel it. But they are afraid of smothering it and are trying to have their cake and eat it too. Rates are going higher -- it would take strong signs to the contrary to stop this train now. Sorry for mixing so many metaphors.
