KZNerd, <<Are you sure you've got this quiet period thing right?>> The date of June 14 has been confirmed by AMD IR. <<In fact last quarter AMD warned three times and two were during quiet time.>> The fact was the first two warns occured BEFORE the "QP", please see my previous post to Rebert. <<Also, since AMD is a highly non-linear shipper, maybe they're just waiting until the end of the quarter to know whether they are better or worse than the already low expectation.>> Here is the situation (maybe oversimplified): Only 16 days left for the qtr, if they can sell all they make and the result is bad, they are compled to warn today; if they hold large inventory and the final price for dispositon of such inventory at a later date is uncertain as of today, they should also warn -- remember their first warn in Q1-"due to the competitive presure" on 2/4, then on 3/8 for "significant loss" (these were before Q1's "QP") and finally on 4/7 to quantify the loss for Q1.
