From Reuters:

On the whole, trading was quiet in Toronto on Monday ahead of the U.S. inflation-related data and the traditionally quieter summer period.

''The summer doldrums are early, I would expect that we're going to see that continue for the next several weeks or several months,'' said Peter Chandler, senior vice-president of Canaccord Capital.

Overall, six of the TSE's 14 subindexes closed higher, led by a 1.5 percent jump in metals and minerals and 1.17 percent hike in conglomerates. Technology issues slipped on Monday with recent high fliers like Bid.com (Toronto:BII.TO - news), down C$1.45 at C$10.90, and Research in Motion, down C$2.10 at C$25.50, seeing their wings clipped.

''A lot of the Internet-related stocks in New York have had big, big corrections. While ours didn't go up nearly as much, they're starting to come back and correct now,'' Canaccord's Chandler said. ''We're seeing the wind come out of the sails of a lot of these high-flying stocks right now.''

Interesting to note that Cannacord was the biggest seller of MCF today. I should revise my estimates on that 2 month Ford contract. While the company I work for extends its services to about 75 Canadian Daimler-Chrysler dealerships and pulls in an estimated 350,000 from the bunch, the Ford deal includes 200 dealerships in the States. I'm thinking its gotta be over and/or close to a million.
