Eric, if that is the extent to all of this, then it sounds very seat of the pants to me. It doesn't convey to me that it will ever support anything other than basic www delivery by a couple of willing subjects, with AOL sitting in the driver's seat. Never mind advanced feature sets in the future that would be dependent and supported by the DOCSIS cable modem standards.

I'm embarrassed for them. Like watching a young lady slip and fall on the ice during a skating competition. Know what I mean? Frank

This part is even better...

The systems will work whether the cable system is analog or digital, and with all varieties of cable modems.

If I were Armstrong, I would let GTE have TCI and MediaOne, then go to court for both digital and analog open access. Also, we should appreciate that they didn't make us more miserable by saying how great their DSL has been going. Maybe the news "GTE will release a VCR comes with a RJ11 socket" due soon.

All sort of strange news and analysis been around lately. What's the implication???
