Canaccord has Aber as STONG BUY

Aber Resources (ABZ : TSE : $10.05) STRONG BUY

18-month target price: $30.00
52-week price range: $17.40-6.80
Shares O/S: fully diluted 48.0M
Working capital: (31/03/99) $111.4M
Market capitalization: $482.4M

On Friday, Aber released its Q1/99 report noting that its share of
Diavik costs were $3.2M in the period, and that the federal
government's comprehensive study review (CSR) on the environmental
impact of the project is nearing completion.

Verbatum, the release reads as follows:

The draft, which remains subject to revision, indicates that the
Project will not cause any significant or unmitigable environmental or
socio-economic effects. Aber expects that in June the Canadian
government will release the final CSR for a 30-day public review
period. After considering the CSR and any public comments, the
government is expected to issue a decision as to whether, and on what
terms and conditions, the Project should proceed to the permitting
phase.

A feasibility study on the Project is expected to be completed
following this decision. Subject to a favourable feasibility study,
environmental approval and permitting by the Canadian government and a
production decision by the owners in 1999, construction is expected to
begin in January 2000.

This release was expected. Cabinet approval is anticipated this summer.

Of particular interest are the initial (published) drill results from
the A-841 pipe (a.k.a. Piranha pipe from the BHP/Dia Met/Archon side),
which is just north of the A-154 North pipe, straddling the boundary
with the BHP, et. al. buffer zone. Seven drill holes yielded 1,416
diamonds from 867.8 kg of core, of which 384 were macros for an
excellent count of 4.42 macros (+0.5 mm) per 10 kg. The release
states that the count of 1.63 diamonds per kg is similar to early
results from A-154 South and that A-841 appears smaller with about 30%
located on the Diavik property. To the best of our knowledge, A-841
is not included in the feasibility study but assuming a favourable
profit sharing agreement with its northerly neighbours, incorporation
of the development of A-841 into the Diavik mining plan would allow an
increase of the lay-back of the A-154 North open pit, accessing more
ore before underground mining.

Elsewhere, four drill holes were completed during the winter into the
A-180 kimberlite, which is some 25 km NE of the Diavik camp, with
caustic fusion results pending. Three untested targets remain to be
drilled this summer. The first Winspear/Aber Snap Lake bulk sample
results from the 1999 program may be out this week. Aber remains a
STRONG BUY.

Happy investing,

andras

George: Thanks for the information. That one slipped right past me. Yes I remember prodigy "long ago"! It's the recent events that seem to be blurred ! <G>. Even though I'm not posting, I'm still lurking ; tend to skip over the wsp vs aber debate - which can lead to missed information. Still on *P - but no active aber string so I don't pause long there.

I'm still waiting for aber to "blossom" - should be some buds breaking soon (so to speak). Been buying a little from time to time and I think I'm where I want to be. Appreciate your help - thanks again.
