Scumbria, Re: Dirk brought that legacy with him to AMD I don't believe this 'I am smarter than you'. After all, Alpha has been there for a long period of time and if it is really that much better, Intel has enough time to 'copy' or adapt those critical design. This is a business where there is full of trade offs. The same can be said for Merced as well. IBM, AMD, Sun etc. should know EPIC as well but why don't they go that route ? IMO, because each has their own believe and constrains. I am not saying K7 is not good, just that it may not fit the business model of Intel, for whatever reason. Gary
