Burt , I doubt many others see any real value to WM - it appears the only way JIM can show to us here that he is worthy to of our attention is to state that he owns some outrageous amount of EDIG stock - in the post following this WM did exhibit his ability to fill SI with irrelevant information

Burt, you may be aware that I respect your opinion on EDIG and that your cogent remarks over the years are largely responsible for the growth in the position I hold in the company.

And I generally agree with you that most of what Walter posts seems to be irrelevant. But as you point out, he does serve as a search engine, as do many others on this thread. One mark of the intelligent investor is the ability to sift through ostensibly unrelated facts and piece together a pattern leading to opportunities.

This board, unlike Raging Bull (which you post at frequently), is not over-run by bashers and hypsters or individuals reporting each transaction which they or others make, minute by minute. It takes a significant investment in time to sort through the chaff on that board to find the items of potential value. I stopped reading it, message by message, long ago and simple bookmark the member profiles of posters such as yourself and about 25 others and check those profiles for new messages. Based upon those messages I occaisionally find other posters who offer intelligent comments. Even with all of the unnecessary WM posts, this board is still quick to read through.

SI has always been the site where more serious investors can find relatively unemotional commentary on companies and their prospects. I only posted my thoughts because I believe that I speak for many who do not want it to become a cult of personalities as the Yahoo and Raging Bull boards sometimes fall to. What really disturbed me was the veiled (and not-so-veiled) attacks on Christopher Hinton who, while initially skeptical of the prospects of EDIG, has provided some valuable commentary to this board. I saw that as a sign that we were moving off the path of investment into the territory of EDIG as religion, as some on Raging Bull would have it.

Sometimes the painful process of information gathering means putting up with the annoying kid in the front of the classroom who always has his hand up to get the teacher's attention.

While he may monopolize the classroom's time, once in a while he asks a good question. And posters like Kerry seem to have a good sense of when to tell him to sit down and be quiet for awhile without actually throwing him out of the room.

Best regards.
