robert,
i find some great research, info, analysis and insightfulness on the yahoo board posted by guys like fneww, techbuyer, oldtimerinvestor, and a few others. i read all of their posts and drag the new info over here. i know they are all reading this so let me say hi guys great work and thanks for sharing the results of your research. i still post the most compelling rmbs info over there.

i have met oldtimer personally and we share some rmbs insights via e-mail. he has been helpful to me and has given me some excellent suggestions in the past few days for future research.

i agree with you, and i am sure they will too that the yahoo board does get a lot of junk traffic. in the past, the junk aggravated me. now it humors me. i am glad i don't have to live my life on the bottom.

we are not totally immune to that junk here. however lately, this thread has been excellent imo with all sides of every rambus issue getting fair play.

here is fneww's latest post.

messages.yahoo.com

i think he is right on.

the info i have shows camino is on schedule, carmel follows close behind. shortly after, carmel then goes out big-time with a few improvements. my guess is, that is why micron is ramping production early. intel needs and will get micron's production for carmel($500 million gets you first dibs). either micron provides or intel sends you to samsung($100 million gets you first dibs too) i see it this way right now...

toshiba is producing drdram for toshiba and sony and matsushita.

samsung mostly for dell and other boxmakers maybe some for matsushita.

ibm will use their own drdram. hopefully some will be in nintendo.(btw i just heard the new nintendo is around $200)

micron, nec and hyundai drdram production is needed asap by everyone.
by early next year 9 or more drdram mfrs will ramped up and producing.

according to info i have found, intel's schedule for the rest of this year looks like this...

workstation server: cascades 600mhz with 2000m of memory. $2000
with 512 $1000

mid pc: coppermine 667mhz $700
katmai/covington 550mhz $400

next year mid pc will feature: william 900mhz
coppermine 800mhz

low end will have kat at 550 and 700.

easy to see why we are going to get rambus very quickly.

maybe one of the intel folks can verify and/or correct this. i believe this is pretty accurate though.
