Ron In an earlier post you said that gold was manipulated to $800. If an ongoing feeding frenzy by ordinary people, aided and abetted by the media to sell newspapers, TV time etc, is manipulation by your definition so be it. I liken that frenzy in 1980 to the frenzy to own internet stocks in 1998 and 1999. It doesn't matter what the fundamentals are join the school of piranhas or is it a bunch of lemmings, and get rich. Ha bloody ha. The Nifty fifty in the 1960s and early 1970s was similar as well.
Real estate has its own craziness at times. All bubbles pop. Gold's bubble popped in 1980. However it will always have a value. You have a very North American viewpoint about gold. The rest of the world is out there and uses it regularly.
